Show Summary
The show was launched on the network NBC on 3rd January, 2005. The plot revolves around the experiences and life of Allison DuBois (Patricia Arquette) who is a research medium for the district attorney’s office in Phoenix Arizona. Allison is believed to be a spiritual medium who has worked in various criminal cases for a variety of law enforcement agencies across the nation.
Glenn Gordon Caron (Emmy Award-winning executive producer, creator and director) has created this show while Grammnet Productions and Picturemaker Productions have produced it in association with CBS Paramount Television.
Allison is a determined woman, a devoted wife of an aerospace engineer and has three children. She is a student of law and thinks that she can see the future in her dreams, talk to people who are dead and even read others thoughts. Not knowing what to do, she looks for help from her husband Joe (Jake Weber) who is convinced what Allison thinks is true as one of her dreams, confirms a murder in Texas.
Now her boss, D.A. Devalos (Miguel Sandoval) also needs to be persuaded that these powers can help them crack cases, often terrifying and violent crimes, whose only witnesses now lie in graves. Then there is also a vast amount of information that can be derived from her dreams and visions.
Allison’s gift has also been passed on to her daughters Ariel (Sofia Vassilieva), Bridgette (Maria Lark) and Marie (Madison and Miranda Carabello). They usually help out their mother when she finds some missing gaps in her own dreams.
But even though Bridgette seems to be quite comfortable with her abilities, Ariel faces tough time to handle the gift, about which her knowledge is quite limited. Also uncomfortable with this family gift is Allison’s younger half brother Michael “Lucky” Benoit who feels that this power usually lands him in some sort of trouble.
Though Det. Lee Scanlon (David Cubitt) initially did not acknowledge Alison’s gift but later he often accompanies and supports her on cases. Allison does sometimes goes against the law as she tries to stop a crime which she has seen as a vision and is about to happen. The first law officer whom she had confided her secret, Captain Kenneth Push (Arliss Howard), of the Texas Rangers also often lends her help. Other than these men, Cynthia Keener (Anjelica Huston), investigator at AmeriTips, also forms a professional relationship with her for her abilities.
